WRITTEN IN THE BODY II | 14:00 | Filmhuis Cavia
All bodies bear the mark of a unique history and form the ground for past and future battles. The films in this threefold selection tell intimate stories, burning, dissident and unabashedly real. Often (auto)biographical, sometimes fictionalised or abstracted into the pure language of film, these shorts will take you to some of the hidden territories of sexuality. This second selection of Written in the Body opens with AUTOAGGRESSION, an extraordinary and captivating depiction of HIV and the struggle to overcome stigma, followed by SCARS and PostBulímika, which defy the definition of sick bodies. Blind Date 2.0 allows us to sneak into someone's bedroom during a first date and ANALysis takes us into the interstices of memory. The block closes with After Matter Comes Energy, a beautiful portrait of intimacy and queer euphoria.

DECOLONIZING OUR BODIES OUR WORLDS | 18:00 | Filmhuis Cavia
Colonialism takes place in our bodies and the lands which we and our ancestors inhabit. This block of films and a talk propose ways in which the bodies and sexuality become tools for freedom, tools for tearing down patriarchal and heteronormative constraints that colonialism imposes on the world. Through historical analysis and present-day perspectives, these films and talks expose the ongoing impact of oppressive forces and offer strategies for resistance. In this block, cities, monuments, churches and ruins are eroticised and re-appropriated through bodies and sex.
Talk: Cruising the Ruins of a Colonial City: Public Sex in Twentieth Century Lima by Diego Galdo-González
Lima, the capital of Peru, hosted a vibrant queer or maricón scene throughout the twentieth century. From sixteenth-century Spanish plazas and rooftops to republican avenues and promenades, its sexual scene unfolded across major sites in the city. These spaces were not explicitly marked as maricón sites, nor were the men whom the maricones lusted for labelled as maricones for their same-sex sexual pursuits. Diego Galdo-González’ presentation addresses questions of public sex, space, and history from the ruins of colonial Lima—a city where any space and any man harboured the potential for queer pleasure. Diego’s talk will be illustrated with videos of the performances from Javier Temple (1991).
Diego Galdo-González is a Junior Lecturer in Latin American and Global Studies at the Center for Latin American Research and Documentation of the University of Amsterdam, CEDLA. He has worked as a coordinator for the Amsterdam Research Centre for Gender & Sexuality and as a junior lecturer for the department of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam. His research interests lie at the intersection of sexual history, sexual cultures, and urban studies in Peru. His RM thesis aimed to trace the history of marica and queer pleasure in Lima between the 1950s and 1980s. He has published articles in GLQ: A Journal of Gay and Lesbian Studies and Argumentos, the journal of the Instituto de Estudios Peruanos.

BE WATER MY LOVE | 17:30 | De Uitkijk
We are all bodies of water. We float like jellyfish, swim like turtles, mate in between reefs of coral, and lie on wet mosses that wrap around rocks, and fruiting spores of fungus on tree barks. We self-fertilise and are always in transition while crawling through swamps. We lust, flow, squirt, vaporise, clash and spoil. In this selection, we imagine a mutual and sustainable relationship with our planet through artistic experimentation.
Be formless. Be shapeless. Be water my love.

Right at the intersection of fear and arousal, of death and ecstasy: Nekromantik is all about forbidden fantasies. Certainly not to everyone's taste but hard to look away once you start watching, these films shake up good morals. Gothic, kinky and camp, Nekromantik is an alleyway for your darkest desires.
